Rusk backstage at the  Cynthia Rowley Fall 2009 Fashion Week show at the Jane Hotel in NYC this past February. The team was led by head stylists Charlie Price (from Bravo TV’s Shear Genius) and Gerard Caruso. Here is a quote from Charlie:

Cynthia wanted a look that evoked a 1930s party reveler – only the morning after. Basically, she wanted beautiful “hangover hair”.  To achieve this look we started by finger blow-drying RUSK “thick” leave in conditioner into the hair for texture and then hinting at a finger wave in the front using RUSK “being sexy” hairspray and clips. At the nape of the neck using a low ponytail, we folded the ends of the hair under and secured with pins for a “fake bob” effect.  Finally the look is “destroyed” with the fingers and more spray. Ultimately it was important to have a modern reference to the past and to avoid an obvious “retro” statement.  We wanted something a woman of today could embrace.
