Matter of Trust is simply providing a non-toxic, helpful way for volunteers to participate through donation of hair, fur, fleece, feathers and nylons. The outer mesh needs to be purchased and we are all grateful for your donations. The booms are being made and stockpiled in 19 donated warehouses near the water all along the Gulf from Louisiana to Florida. Volunteer teams are tirelessly accepting boxes, truckloads, drop offs and stuffing nylons, just in case booms are needed in their area.
In less than 3 weeks, salons, groomers, households, businesses have come together and mobilized an International Natural Fiber Recycling Phenomenon. We have seen this system be developed before our very eyes through collaboration and orchestration of key individuals throughout the US, Canada and beyond!
Now that the oil is starting to land, we would like to venture a step further.
There are so many oil spill clean up techniques and materials, many of them made of oil. These hair booms are using fibers that are being diverted from the waste stream. They are renewable, natural, effective, fast, hydrophobic (sheet off water), plentiful, free and come to you with good will!
