Australia’s most prolific fashion hair stylist, Kevin Murphy has been named Hair Director of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week in 2009 for the sixth year running. As Hair Director, Murphy will be responsible for creating and overseeing the stunning hairstyles at each of the MSFW Designer Series Shows featuring top Australian designers such as Bettina Liano, Kirrily Johnston, Gorman and Easton Pearson.

Kevin Murphy was born and raised in Melbourne and is thrilled to be Hair Director for the iconic fashion event in his home town once again.

Australian model and newest recruit to the Victoria’s Secret Angel, Jess Hart, has been named this year’s Melbourne Spring Fashion Week Ambassador and will launch the program on Sunday 30 August. Murphy has styled the gorgeous Melbourne-born model on several occasions including for the Bettina Liano campaign and at a recent shoot in New York.

Kevin Murphy’s impressive career has spanned fashion, runway, magazine shoots, film and television. His work has featured in top international fashion magazines such as Vanity Fair, US Harpers Bazaar, British Elle, Mademoiselle and Spanish VOGUE and he has worked with some of the world’s leading fashion photographers – Patrick Demarchelier, Robert Erdmann and Richard Bailey to name a few.

After completing his hairdressing apprenticeship in a Queensland salon, Murphy furthered his training at the famous Vidal Sassoon salon in London. Since 1984, Murphy has been a freelance fashion hair stylist and was awarded the prestigious Master Award at the 2007 Australian Hair Fashion Awards in Sydney.
