Into The Wild at the Carlton Club. Upcycling, KEVIN.MURPHY and Hair by Ryan Ross Williams.

The Upcycling event held at The Carlton Club’s newest addition – The Hasti Bala room. It was a bit of a jungle, and I mean that in the best possible way! Their new function room holds steady to the roots of The Carlton Club theme with floor to ceiling plant life and pink and purple leopard print throughout. Not to mention critters stalking you from every nook and cranny.

Hair was directed by the always inspirational and charismatic Ryan Ross Williams using the incomparable KEVIN.MURPHY products, it was a mash up of tight Tarzan inspired curls and crimps. To create a world of wild texture and controlled disorder that worked in perfectly with the creative vision of the designers, who produced pieces entirely from recycled materials. One collection consisting of actual living plant life, still in the pots and grown in the designers own apartment.

The standout piece of the night was a garment made from an array of paper shopping bags crafted into an Elizabethan style gown. Ryan then created a Marie Antoinette inspired style. He incorporated shopping receipt embellishments to achieve the perfect marriage between the abstract and fashion forward. All in all it was one wild night at the Carlton.
