Now that Emiliano Vitale from Sydney’s é Salon has participated in the Alternative Hair Show, the question on many Australian hairdressers’ lips is ‘how do I get an invitation?’  Leanne Cutler spoke with President of the Alternative Hair Show, the one and only Anthony Mascolo to find out.

The AHS Visionary Award is the organisers’ way of spotting new talent, accord to Mascolo.

He said that entering the Visionary Award helped the judges view work of salons on the rise who may be invited to present at an Alternative Hair Show in the future.

“Hairdressers apply to be part of the AHS Visionary Award which involves a photo submission and is open to all salons,” he said.

Mascolo said that organisers opened competition to hairdressers worldwide so that they may find ‘new blood’ for the Alternative Hair Show.

The 2011 deadline for Visionary Award entries is 31 August.  Some finalists will be selected to present their work at the Alternative Hair Show in London on October 16.

To apply, send one 10″ x 8″ print, 50 words on the inspiration and credits.  There is a £35 fee that goes directly towards leukaemia research.

A hairdresser may enter more than once with the £35 fee applying for each photo entered.
