Damascus Steels have arrived in Hair Scissors.  The Damascus tradition of laminated (folded) blades probably established in the Middle East though there is much debate about where the technology originated.  The Japanese, as they do with most things,  refined the technology to begin their incredible 1500 year lineage of Sword blades,  the finest in the world of Folded Laminated blades.

On the deepest level of bladesmithing – back at the hot forging stage -  I have been working for many years now with Yamamura Forging whose incredibly good quality forgings of Hitachi’s metal have been the basis for the success of Excellent Edges around the world.  They have been working to produce a Damascus Stainless blade and now they have arrived.  I am using these forgings to make my Signature Series – that condense my decades of Scissor-   smithing in the finest that I can   produce – the summit of  Excellence.  These four scissors are all that you need for an entire career of advanced cutting.  The range is also available with a 5 year or 10 year unlimited free servicing plan. TP Sting Ray (TPSR) - for blunt and point cutting. With its unusual shape,  a combination of a thinner and a slicer, is for blunt and point cutting. The blade dynamics are so that the cutting angle between the 2 blades is always the same regardless of how far open or closed the scissor is.

This means that it always cuts consistently and evenly and allows very advanced precision cutting.

TP Marlin (TPM) - for chip and slice cutting. It has the plump “leaf blade” shape that defines its

work as dry slicing and sliding.  When the tips are opened there is a wide mouth for easy slide cutting even around corners.

TP Barracuda (TPB) - a fine tooth thinner with radial  teeth for slide thinning. It has special slots and a prong on the tip of each tooth.  This allows it to cut only the hair that is right next to the cutting blade and leave all the outer layers.  This allows inward and outward curl thinning and undercutting all in one scissor.  The radial teeth allow downhand slide thinning.

TP Croc (TPC) - a coarse texturiser with 14 radial teeth with 7 slots in each tooth for volume removal and slide texturising. A remarkably versatile scissor we use it extensively in both men’s and ladies work.

This covers all types of cutting with just four scissors,  each one designed and built to last for decades.  These are the ultimate in haircutting tools.
