GROW – book review

4-ms-booksleeve_3d_christmas The new hairdresser’s bible… reviewed by Phoenix Thompson.

Antony Whitaker is an incredibly well respected hairdresser who has over thirty years experience in the industry. Taking himself from New Zealand he became creative director at Vidal Sassoons in London, and returned to Sydney where he opened several hairdressing salons and schools. He has drawn from these experiences and resources and recounted them together in this easy to read book, that I believe everyone should own.

I implore all salon owners, managers, educators, and young hairdressers to go out and get this book for your team.

GROW is an incredibly colourful, simple but informative book to read. It is an inspiring and passionate account and contains everything you need to know about how to succeed in this industry.

GROW will help you and your team become “superstylists”. This book covers all aspects of our craft including sales, referrals, marketing, setting and achieving your goals plus how to stay inspired. All this is presented in punchy bright text with key points and will keep even the most attention starved hairdresser (like me) enthusiastic to the finish.

If anybody wasn’t sure what to buy their staff for Christmas this year… Grow is your answer!

I am heading into my twentieth year of hairdressing with more passion for the industry now than ever. I am proud to be a hairdresser. As an apprentice, aged sixteen, I spent six amazing years in the U.K with Vidal Sassoons, before moving overseas. To the present day, I have worked  across the world in a number of different roles for several amazing companies. From salon manager to educator, my ongoing love for this craft will continue for many years to come.
