The new king of Australian hairdressing has been crowned! The tremendously talented Robert Bava of Parlour Hair in Adelaide has taken out the title of 2009 AHFA Australian Hairdresser of the Year for the second year in a row.

Bava has achieved the most coveted award in the Australian hair industry. Judged by an elite panel of London’s finest, the Australian Hair Fashion Awards recognize the top echelon of the Australian hair and beauty industry.

Bava owns three salons in Australia and is highly sought after for his award winning talent. London’s judging panel was blown away by the talent shown in his photographic entry collection.

The impressive prize package that Bava will enjoy again includes a BMW 1 Series, sponsorship to develop an electrical appliance such as a hair straightener or curling iron and a 12 month public relations package from Crush Media.

The 2009 Australian Hair Fashion Awards is the hair industry’s night of nights. It was celebrated in style at the Sydney Opera House last night. Sydney’s sky lit up with fireworks to commence the gala dinner. The announcement of Bava’s win was met by a standing ovation and ensured the celebrations continued well into the night at The Ivy.

ARIA nominated Mobin Master feat. Karina Chavez (Show Me Love), 2008 breakthrough artists The Galvatrons (When We Were Kids), 2009′s most anticipated band The Frets – fresh from recording in Sweden and London as well as Melbourne’s eccentric rockers The Blow Waves and Aussie up and comers MOVE rocked the Opera House Marquee and The Ivy into the early hours to celebrate this fabulous event.

There are a number of categories in the prestigious awards program includingstate winners, colourist, mens, apprentice and team and salon wins.

The awards also recognize fashion photographers, session stylists, make-up artists and products as well as true masters of the craft from Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
