2009 Australian Hairdresser of the Year Simplifies Salon Life
Caterina Di Biase, Australian Hairdresser of the Year 2009 and artistic director of the legendary Melbourne salon group Heading Out Hair & Beauty, has been appointed to the honorary role of National Technical Ambassador at Easydry to help promote the green agenda.
Caterina has been familiar with Easydry eco-towels for more than two years since meeting Anne Butterly, inventor of the towel and founder of Easydry, in London at Salon International 2007. Caterina is now introducing the Easydry towels into Heading Out’s academy and five salons.
“As hairdressers we need to be environmentally responsible, water usage is high among salons and we have to address that. Using Easydry towels is a simple way to do more because they help us save water and are biodegradable and environmentally safe,” said Caterina “As a hairdressing group in Melbourne, where water is so scarce – we need to do all we can. This is our contribution to our community.”
Caterina chose Easydry because they are so robust yet soft and completely hygienic.
“They are larger than ordinary towels, extremely soft to touch and are so hygienic, using one per client,” she added. “I also like the way Easydry has carried its ideology throughout the business so that all the packaging is compostable and the processes used to make the towels are eco-friendly.”
Easydry is the brainchild of Anne Butterly from Dundalk in Ireland. She invented the towel five years ago and over the past three years has slowly built Easydry into an international business. The Easydry towel, which is highly absorbent, biodegradable and recyclable, allows hair and beauty salons to switch over to top-quality disposables without putting a burden on the environment or increasing their costs. It is the eco alternative to washing hundreds of towels at high temperatures on a daily basis to ensure they reach the necessary hygiene standards – an expensive and labour-intensive process. Easydry also guarantees clients a spotlessly clean towel very visit.
“Easydry is unique because its towels are available in jet black (non toxic, non-hazardous
dye) as well as in pure white, has no onerous contracts and all its packaging is biodegradable and carries the ok compost mark,” says Gavin Hinton, general manager of Easydry Australia. “The win in September, where Easydry was recognised as ‘Innovation of the Year’ at the prestigious HJ British Hairdressing Business Awards, demonstrates that Easydry continues to be the market leader.”
